The MotoGP white flag bike change rules give riders an option when Race Direction authorises machine changes. A rider can stay out if the current bike and tyres still suit the conditions. A race already declared wet also permits machine changes without waiting for a later white flag.

Permission to swap does not suspend pit-lane rules. Riders must give way to approaching traffic when leaving their change position. A white flag bearing a diagonal red cross is a different signal: it reports rain in that section, rather than granting permission to change bikes.
